Bottom of the table Kildare can pose threat to Youths
Wexford Youths FC face Kildare County at Station Road on Saturday hoping to obtain the third League win in a row.
Mick Wallace’s team are in fine form ahead of this tie and will be hoping for a positive result. Kildare have had a torrid start to the season, but they have a new management team in place and they will see this fixture as an ideal place to kick start their season.
However Wallace won’t be able to call upon the services of Marty Kelly after he picked up an injury during the week and the young starlet Jimmy Keohane has failed to recover from an injury that he picked up on International duty. Gareth McCurtain has also picked up an injury during the week and he will be unavailable for selection, Wallace may therefore have a few selection problems in midfield.
Wexford play Cork City in the 2nd Round of the EA Sports Cup on Bank holiday Monday, but it is safe to say that Wallace is taking the season one game at a time.
“We have to be careful after big wins, last season we tended to slip up after big wins, so we need to improve” said Wallace.
“Kildare have a new management tem and the players will be out to prove themselves on Saturday. They will be really up for it and we’re fully aware of that. Station Road is a difficult place to go to, as we know from last year when we lost there” Wallace said.
